The umbrella, reconsidered

A new design on an old object

The umbrella hasn't changed in centuries. We think it's time. Overcast is rethinking form, material, and craft to build the umbrella you actually want to carry.

The Problem

Everyone owns an umbrella. Nobody loves theirs.

Our Approach

The umbrella industry optimizes for two things: cheapness and wind resistance. We think that misses the point entirely. An umbrella is something you carry in public, pull out in front of people, hold above your head like a statement. It should look and feel like you chose it on purpose.

Overcast starts with design. Premium materials. Honest construction. One product, done right.

Design Principles
01 — 03
01

Form Over Gimmick

No Bluetooth. No GPS tracking. No weather alerts. Just a beautifully designed object that does one thing perfectly: keeps you dry while looking intentional.

02

Materials That Matter

Machined hardware. High-density canopy. Construction you can see and feel. Every component chosen because it's the best option, not the cheapest.

03

Built to Keep

One umbrella, bought once. Not a disposable $8 convenience store impulse. An object worth caring about, repairing, and carrying for years.
